Mouse not working on KVM switch

I've just bought a new Belkin 2 port KVM switch so that I can use a
monitor, and a PS2 keyboard and mouse with 2 Winodws XP desktop
computers.

The mouse refuses to work on my old computer but works fine on my brand
new computer. I did the obvious checks like checking that everything
was plugged in correctly and trying a different mouse but without
success.

So I decided to check whether this may be a problem with the mouse
drivers. The new computer on which the mouse works fine uses a
microsoft PS/2 mouse driver, but the computer on which the mouse
doesn't work has a Logitech mouse driver installed. I have been unable
to get rid of this Logitech driver by rolling back or uninstalling this
driver. I am looking to re-install the standard microsoft PS/2 mouse
driver but have been unable to find it through Google searches.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I may be able to re-install the
Microsoft driver or any other suggestions.

What happens when you attemp to remove it via Add/Remove
programs (in as much detail as possible)?

Is it Mouseware or Setpoint or something else? Which
version?

Generally you would not need to "re-install" standard
Windows mouse drivers, they're still there but superceded by
the logitech driver so the best approach is getting the
logitech driver off the system. There might be some
information about this driver in the installed folder (maybe
program files/logitech/ ? ), or the files should be pointed
out in the properties for the mouse in Device Manager. You
might also try rerunning the Mouseware installer to see if
it provides an uninstallation mechanism as well, and if that
isn't enough try deleting the mouse from Device Manager and
then reboot.

in so far as I know nothing strange happened but the logitech drivers
were not removed doing this.

It's some kind of mouseware: when I click on my C drive then go to
"drivers" folder then > "mouse " > "logitech" > "mw976enu mouseware
logitech".

I will try to re-install the logitech driver and then hopefully
uninstalling totally will be possible.

What evidence is there that they are not removed? Again, as
much detail as possible. Please go ahead and write all
detail on all these things and any others you mention.

That seems like something an OEM or installer created,
simply where the installation files were dumped. If all
else fails, disable any antivirus, close down all other apps
running in background then try reinstalling, rebooting, then
uninstalling that version 9.76 driver.

You should also be able to go into Device Manager and for
the mouse, use "update driver" to manually select a standard
mouse.

Another option would be to look at the files in that
mouseware folder you menitoned... there should be a few
"INF" files, something similar to LM2KPLUS.INF, as an
example. For each of these INF files (you might have to
decompress the Logitech Installer File with a program like
WinRAR to see these file names), search the rest of your
hard drive for these files (Find->Files should find them),
and once you've deleted those Logitech INF files, if you
delete the mouse from Device Manager and reboot it should
not be assigned as a Logitech Mouse anymore.

Usually there is a Program Files/Logitech folder, do not
assume a Drivers/mouse folder is the only folder if you have
not yet checked Program Files folders as well.

if the mouse works fine on the computer if you are *not* using the KVM
switch...then the problem is with the KVM switch itself.
