What would be a suitable travel adapter for a user who wants to use his
Dell Inspiron 1010 netbook in Europe(Italy, England), Africa(Nigeria),
Jamaica when traveling? Mainly, the user is in US.

Would the Kensington 33117 International All-in-One Travel Plug Adapter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002H4YUI/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00006B91Y&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1ZSH0S5SE4156VRY5SAT
be OK for the needs? The user is a real end user and wants something
which can plug and play with his netbook, phone charger. His phone is a
Nokia 1661-2 model

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure that your netbook's power supply and your phone charger
aren't already mult-voltage capable? If so, all you'd need is the cheap
adapters to allow the plug on the AC line cord to fit the foreign
sockets.

The powersupply/charger on my two Thinkpads and the charger for my
Motorola phone will all work on 110 or 240 with no adjustments.

If your computer PS/charger is multi-voltage and multi-frequency (the data
plate will say something like 100 - 240V 50 - 60Hz) then you just need to
adapt the mains plug itself. I use one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Universal-International-Travel-Adapter-Countries/dp/B002YEPG04/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1291671244&sr=8-5

and it seems to do the job. It has also helped out a friend from NZ who was
visiting the state since it could adapt his iPhone charger to fit US plugs
as well.

For charging my little devices (MP3 player, cell, and suchlike stuff) I
also carry a Gomadic international unit with ends to fit various devices:

http://www.amazon.com/International-Charger-Amazon-Kindle-Generation/dp/B0021VMF0Y

The one shown in the link says Kindle but if you go directly to Gomadic you
can ask for any sort of cable adapter you like and buy any others you need
at the same time.

Of course, if all of your separate charger units are multi-standard then
all you'd need would be the plug adapter (plus all of the chargers, of course).

In Norway, I had problems with some bulky adapters and especially with
combined converter/adapters not fitting in the recessed "Schuko"
outlets.

I can't tell whether the one pictured on Amazon's Web site would have a
similar problem.

Ironically, the cheapest of cheap adapters, like the ones pictured here,
worked fine.

You could well be right -- the multi-standard adapter I have is a mighty
bulky beast. I liked it because it did everything in one piece but if I
ever get rich enough to go to Norway I'll have to reconsider. And if I go
to Denmark to visit an acquaintance or to Sweden to look for family I had
better check their mains arrangement beforehand.

Thank you John and Bert. I appreciate your suggestions and time.
