I've just bought one of these. For the first 2 days it was completely
quiet, and then sporadically it makes loud clicking noises - hard
enough to make the case vibrate. I don't know if this is a bad drive
or if this is normal for this drive. It might just be the actuator arm
making particularly violent movements. Can anyone who owns one please
advise?
Thanks.

Thanks, Philo & JANA. Does either of you (or anyone else) know of a
utility to check an external hard drive? Spinrite will check only the
IDE drives.
Thanks again.
